What happened before? Drow priestess in Themis said she could create Silver Thread, need to kill a spider from the underdark. Mushroom guy leading us to “demonweb terror.”
Ceri and Viskill emerge from the magic bathroom, joining Dimplefoot. Mushroom-man farmer leads us to a cavern, where we meet other folks: human (Erathul) and scarred old dwarf (Ibrahin).
We hack through some webs, into spider lair: one huge, two medium, one swarm. A Hook Horror comes up behind us too.
Long tough fight, but we win. We get the websac. Also a drow noble’s corpse (2400).
Mushroom dude gives us UNSPECIFIED REWARD. We stay the afternoon and night. Then we head up; pass a drow scout, and Dimplefoot has a weird conversation with him. We get out to the surface, and head back to Themis.
We go back to RQ temple, drow priestess Anala. She will create the Silver Thread, using the silk: then “raise dead” will work. There’s resistance, we can’t overcome. Senior Fey mages needed… maybe Ceri’s family? (Drow priest will consider this spider-magic blasphemous; spiders sacred.)
Ceri does a Sending to her mother: “Hi mom, I’m okay. How’s Dad? Sorry for not Sending earlier. Need fey mages in free cities to help save world. How can we meet?” Response: “Ceri – captive – can’t think”.
We go back to Iodale, talk to Kappa. He does Sendings to contact his agents in Twinfates. High-value captives have “crowns” and vacant expressions. Get in via river. Guards at gates, but we should be able to travel freely in the city. Jail should be warded, but rest of city can’t be.
We go swim in the river, finding our way up by moonlight. Sneak past some guards. We meet a spy: Killian. Prison layout: guards on top, two basement levels. Killian can create a distraction, so they won’t be able to get reinforcements (the reinforcements will be busy). We’ll get uniforms to sneak us through outer gates, though they won’t work well up close. Getting Viskill in is the hard part: pretend he’s a prisoner. We build him a fake mind-crown, creating a false magical aura, and putting a bit of starmetal in it. Killian suggests: we say we came from another city (Batan), and need high-security place.
